Island and Island Nation (1/19)

I'm thinking of a famous island. Drop the first letter, rearrange the remaining letters, and you'll have an island nation.

What's the island and what's the island nation?

Haiti is not technically an island nation. It shares an island.

Yes, Haiti and the Dominican Republic share the island of Hispaniola. For lack of a better term, I called Haiti an "island nation" because it is a nation on an island, not a continent.
